Steve Lewis, a native of Glasgow, Scotland is entering his third season with the Army West Point women’s rugby program, having been tapped to assist the spring 2015 7s program by his former teammate and Army West Point Women’s Rugby Head Coach Bill Leclerc. Together, they amassed a 15-5 record and an ACRA championship in the inaugural season.
Lewis is one of the few World Rugby Level 3 (USA Level 400) coaches active in North America and was the 2014 USA Rugby Coach of the Year. After playing with the venerable West of Scotland rugby club and also the Glasgow provincial team, he immigrated to the United States and became player-coach in Vail, Colo. His coaching career continued in Colorado spanning every level of the American game including clubs such as Denver Highlanders and Old Blue of New York, where he is currently Director of Rugby, and representative sides such as the West Men's All-Stars, West Collegiate All-Stars, Northeast Collegiate All-Stars and Eastern Rockies U19 All-Stars. He has also coached the national team of Nigeria and the only rugby club in Palestine, the Beit Jala Lions.
