Was a seven-time All-American during a career which spanned from 1950 to 1954. Captured All-American honors in the 100-yard backstroke in 1952, 1953 and 1954, the 200-yard backstroke in 1953 and 1954, and the 150-yard individual medley relay. Retired as a Colonel, after serving 30 years as an artillery officer, including a tour in Vietnam as a battalion commander.
