Women's Tennis Cruises To 7-0 Win at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army women’s tennis put an end to its road woes on Thursday afternoon with a 7-0 win at Patriot League rival Lehigh. The Black Knights swept all three all nine matches at Ulrich Varsity Courts, including five of six singles contests in straight sets.
Army (15-6, 2-0 Patriot League) entered the match against the Mountain Hawks (3-12, 0-2 PL) with a 0-4 mark in matches away from West Point this season, with its last road win coming in the 2011 Patriot League Championship match against Navy.
In doubles play, sophomore Della Taylor and freshman Elle Taylor inched their way closer to the Army record book. The sisterly duo secured their 21st win of the season with an 8-4 decision at No. 1 over Jenai Bilimoria and Abby Farrell. The pair is six wins shy from cracking Army’s top-10 list for single-season wins.
In singles, freshman Natalie Allen etched her name in Army history, with plenty of time to move up the list. With at least four matches remaining, Allen moved into a tie for 14th all-time with her 23rd victory of the season. The freshman defeated Liz Piscitelli, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 for her fifth-straight win.
Sophomore Jamila Paul, who was named the Patriot League Player of the Month on Wednesday, extended her winning streak to 10 matches with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Farrell at No. 2. Paul improved to 14-4 this spring and 18-7 overall.
The Black Knights improved to 24-2 all-time against the Mountain Hawks as Army has won the last 24 contests. The win was Army's 51st consecutive against a conference opponent.
Army will return home for one final busy week of the regular season. The Black Knights will host Hofstra on Tuesday before a weekend tripleheader against Lafayette and Holy Cross on Friday, with the regular-season finale against Bucknell on Saturday.
