Rugby Remains Perfect with Win Over St. Bonaventure

ST BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Army men’s rugby team claimed its third-straight victory to open the season, defeating the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure 36-22 in a road meeting Saturday evening.
The Black Knights started off hot, with Jack Ireland scoring a try in the first minute of action. Twenty minutes later, captain Collum Magee added a try and Dom Mori followed in the 31st minute, with Logan Pearce converting on the kick.
In the second half, Mori scored his second of the game. Freshman David Huff added a try in the 72nd minute, followed by Magee’s second of the game in the 79th minute. Pearce converted on both kicks.
With the victory, the Black Knights improve to 3-0 on the season claiming victories over Cornell and nationally-ranked Penn State.
Army will have a week off before getting back in action, Oct. 11 when they host Iona from Anderson Rugby Complex. They’ll hit the road the following week to play Buffalo before hosting top-ranked Kutztown (Oct. 25) and service academy rival Air Force (Oct. 31).
