Army Closes Out Three-Day West Point Invite

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army women’s tennis team closed out play in the three-day West Point Invitational Sunday afternoon under sunny skies.
On Saturday, in doubles action, Haley O’Connor and Maya Parker fell to Shea Flanaigan and Summer Walker from UConn while Nan Porter and Elle Taylor dropped their semifinal match to a Stony Brook duo.
In singles play on Saturday, Carolyn Pitman dropped her round of 16 match to Emma Alderman of UConn 6-3, 6-4.
In Flight B, Alba Sala of Albany defeated Gabriella Spindler 6-1, 6-2 and O’Conner dropped her round of 16 contest with Dajana Ognjenovic 6-3, 6-2.
Parker advanced to the quarterfinal round in Flight C before falling to Cassandra Dix of Stony Brook.
Valeria Salazar of Syracuse claimed victory in Flight A singles, while she and her partner Komal Safdar topped the Flight A doubles bracket.
Army will continue the fall portion of their 2014-15 season this weekend as they travel to the Middlebury Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5
