Throwers Excel in Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Competing in the opening day of the Penn Relays from Philadelphia, Pa., the throwing contingent of Cody Rothschild, Briyah Brown and Amy Slaughter saw success, each earning a top-20 finish in their respective events.
Rothschild got things started for Army West Point, taking 16th in the discus throw with a toss of 44.23m.
Continuing her dominance, the reigning Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week, Brown, took fifth in the shot put with a toss of 14.37m. She has now finished in the top-five in the shot put in each of her 11 collegiate competitions, dating back to the beginning of the indoor season.
Slaughter also posted a top-20 mark, taking 15th in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.81m.
The three-day event will continue on Friday and Saturday as the Cadets take part in their final regular season competition of the 2015 outdoor season.
