No. 5 Black Knights Trounce Buffalo 48-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The fifth-ranked Army West Point men's rugby team defeated Rugby East foe Buffalo by a score of 48-0 in its season opener from Anderson Rugby Complex.
Six different players scored as the Black Knights blanked the Bulls to move to 1-0 on the season.
Army got on the board first as Luke Heun found the try zone in the fifth minute to give the Black Knights the 5-0 advantage. Donny Goff and Andrew Fargo would score back-to-back tries in the ninth and 15th minutes, with Thomas Del Pino converting Fargo's score, to put the fifth-ranked Cadets up 17-0.
In the 24th minute, Peter Basnight found the try zone following a scrum in which the Black Knights were able to push the Buffalo defenders deep into their own territory. Cam Hargis posted a try in the 33rd minute and Army headed into the break with the 27-0 lead.
Fargo continued where he left off in the opening minutes of the second half, scoring his second of the afternoon in the 48th minute. A successful kick from Del Pino put the Black Knights up 34-0.
John Sproul and Hargis scored the final two tries of the game for the Black Knights, as Andrew Borer converted both scores, and the Cadets earned the 48-0 win.
The Black Knights move to 1-0 on the season, with head coach Matt Sherman claiming his first win at the helm of the Army program. The team will continue its three-game homestand on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they host Rugby East opponent St. Bonaventure to Anderson Rugby Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the game to be streamed live on Knight Vision.
