WEST POINT, N.Y. – On a brisk fall afternoon on the banks of the Hudson, the Army West Point men's rugby team topped 13th-ranked Kutztown, 38-19, at the Anderson Rugby Complex Saturday.

The Black Knights improved to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in Rugby East contests, while the Golden Bears dropped to 4-2 in both.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Head coach Matt Sherman celebrated his birthday today.
Army is now 2-1 against Kutztown since the fall of 2014.
Junior fly half Jon Kim's 13 points brings his career total to 115, which broke the varsity career points record that was previously held by Andrew Borer with 108 points from 2014-16.
Senior wing Andy Sullivan and Jake Lachina share the team-lead in tries with eight.

TURNING POINT

Army's defense came up with a goal line stand at the end of the first half to keep the Golden Bears off the board and preserve the 15-0 lead heading into halftime.

Head coach Matt Sherman – "A good Kutztown attack forced us to defend most of the game. With that being said, I think we answered the call time and time again. It was a really gutsy effort by everyone defensively. I think we can take away that we were more precise in the key moments when we were under pressure than we were a few weeks ago against Penn State. We're going to need to do that against Air Force, to an even greater extent, and keep our cool when the game is on the line."
