Men’s Tennis Falls to Illinois State

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Army West Point men's tennis team met Illinois State in a neutral site affair in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sunday afternoon and lost 5-2. Junior Grant Riechmann performed strongly for the Black Knights as he won in the top singles and doubles flight. Army falls to 5-4 this season while the Redbirds even up their record at 5-5.
Riechmann had to battle for his win against Urh Krajnc Domiter. The Houston, Texas native lost the first set 6-4 but fought back for a 7-6 second set win before taking the final set 10-7. He has now won three of his last four singles matches to improve to 4-4 this year.
In doubles, Riechmann paired with senior Harrison McCormick for a 6-2 win. The duo is now 3-4 this spring.
Junior Kyle Barnes and senior Austin McCasin edged out a 6-4 win in the second doubles position to move to 4-1 on the year.
The Black Knights return home for four of their five matches next weekend. First up is NJIT on Friday, March 4, which has a 6 p.m. first serve time.
