JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore Briyah Brown of the Army West Point women's track and field team competed at the NCAA East Preliminaries in the Women's Shot Put on Saturday afternoon. Brown was the only female Cadet to qualify for the prelims and placed 47th with a best throw of 13.54 meters.
Brown had a strong season in which she set the Academy record in the event with a 15.15-meter best that occurred at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
"She was hitting her spots but wasn't able to put together a big enough throw today," said Army Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mike Smith. "She was one of our most consistent performers all year and I am proud of her effort. She will get to this meet again."
