DIRECTOR OF TRACK AND FIELD/ CROSS COUNTRY MIKE SMITH'S COMMENTS:
"The scoreboard does not reflect the improvement that I have seen in our women's team. We were only four points out of third in this meet and that is something we had hoped to accomplish. The last time we scored over 100 points was at the indoor championships was in 2006. We have come a long way to reach our goals. Having said that, we had some great performances. Brown won the shot put in convincing fashion and McMullen scored two third-place finishes in the 60-meter and 200-meter. Her 200 time is one of the all-time best performances at the academy. Halbrook did work out there today and almost pulled off a win in the mile as she ran really close to the school record in the 3000-meter. Maybe the most outstanding performance came from Mundekis. She repeated as 800-meter champion, broke her own school record in the process and set the Patriot League meet record. What is more, she did it wire to wire. Just a great run from her. We will continue to build toward the future, every single point that we scored today came from the underclassmen. The future is bright for this group, it just takes time to put everything in place to compete at the top of this conference."
