Army Places Third at UC Irvine

IRVINE, CALIF. – The Army West Point women's track and field team head back to West Point after a successful weekend at the UC Irvine Spring Break Classic.
At this meet, the team earned 126.5 points which was good for third place. The team earned this spot with three first place titles, four second place finishes, and three third place finishes.
COACH'S QUOTES
"Our women picked up right where they left off the indoor season," said head coach Mike Smith. "We have some very consistent performers that won events this weekend, and we have some emerging young people that are starting to show their talent."
"I thought our throws crew did a nice job against some very strong competition and I felt that some of our freshmen had some nice breakthrough performances. We have had a great week of training and we can head back home tomorrow knowing that we are ready for the challenges of the championship season that is coming soon."

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
Track Events
- Army placed fourth in the 400-relay with a time of 47.05. The team consisted of Bonvie Fosam, Yasheika Beckaroo, Emily Malone, and Calli McMullen.
- Abby Halbrook won the 1500-meter run, clocking in at 4:31.82. She was followed closely by Bethany Nunnery in third with a time of 4:36.63.
- Asia Chen placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.76m.
- Haley Watson finished in ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.04.
- Army finished 3-5 in the 100-dash. McMullen finished in third with a time of 12.19, Beckaroo finished fourth at 12.28, and Malone clocked in at 12.29 for fifth.
- In the 800m run, Hannah Deines earned second place with a time of 2:16.98.
- With a time of 1:02.41, Lynne Mooradian placed third in the 400-hurdles. Asia Chen took seventh with a time of 1:03.90.
- Nunnery earned second place in the 3000m with a time of 9:55.79, while Kajol Maheshwari close behind in sixth, clocking in at 10:25.62. Andrea Karlen timed in at 10:33.12, which was good for eighth place.
- In the 1600-relay, Army claimed second place. The team clocked in at 3:49.99 and consisted of Mooradian, Chen, McMullen and Watson.
Field Event
- Adaugo Oguejiofor placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.48m.
- In the pole vault, Madeleine Schneider placed second clearing a height of 3.05m.
- Briyah Brown took fourth place in the shot put, throwing for a distance of 14.74m. Carrie Wasdyke (12.79m) followed in eighth, while Lauren Schultz (12.40m) placed ninth.
- In the high jump, Olivia Gervan claimed fourth place clearing a height of 1.58m.
