SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Army West Point golf team sits three strokes back of the lead after the opening two rounds at the Wofford Invitational.

Army posted marks of 282-283—565 (-11) to land the second spot among nine other schools. Host Wofford holds the slim lead after carding scores of 286-276—562 (-14). The Black Knights shot their best round of the day during the opening 18 holes, handing them the lowest score of the tournament heading into the second round.
ETSU and Austin Peay State follow closely with scores of 288-279—567 (-9) and 286-284—570 (-6), respectively.  Â

TOURNAMENT NOTES
- A highlight of the day was senior Dean Sakata firing back-to-back 66's to sit 12-under par heading into the final day. That score hands him a six-stroke lead over the field.
- Nick Turner was Army's next best finisher, sitting tied for seventh place after registering marks of 72-68—140 (-4).
- Justin Williamson is seven places behind him in the 14th spot. The sophomore shot a 71-72—143 to sit 1-under par after the opening two rounds.
- James McKee finished 6-over par after notching scores of 73-77—150 (+6). The rookie is currently tied for 40th place.
- Fellow classmate Joseph Gerardi closed out the Black Knights scoring with marks of 77-80—157 (+13).
- Sakata and Turner were among the tournament leaders on the first day with six birdies apiece. Sakata also had one of four eagles on the day.
- The final round will begin Monday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
