Black Knights Defeat Sacred Heart In Three Sets

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Army West Point volleyball team kicked off the Bulldogs Invitational at Yale with a straight sets victory over Sacred Heart on Friday.

The win stretches the team's winning streak to four games and marks the club's first road triumph of the season. Over the past four matches, Army (7-3) has won 12 out of a possible 13 sets.

Fresh off her MVP winning performance at last week's Black Knights Invitational, senior Sydney Morriss led the team with 12 kills. The team was strong on the defensive side as Ana Oglivie (16), Nikki Lum (15) and Sayler Butters (12) all reached double-digit digs. Lum was the match's leader in assists with 19.

Army took the first set 26-24 and the match remained highly contested when in the second, the Black Knights trailed 17-16 before taking nine of the final 11 points to win the set 25-19. Army was dominant in the third, taking the set 25-10 to close out the match.

Army will look to continue its winning streak on Saturday with two matches beginning with a matchup with tournament host Yale at 1 p.m.
