LEWISBURG, Pa. - Thanks to three Black Knights finishing in the top 10 on the player leaderboard, the Army West Point golf team claimed the 2021 Bucknell Invitational title with a 5-under third round on Tuesday.
Â
This is the first tournament victory for the Black Knights since capturing the 2019 Patriot League Championship and the first invitational win since taking home the Coca-Cola Wofford Intercollegiate in 2015.
Â
The Black Knights finished with three players scoring in the top 10 on the player leaderboard.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
""I'm proud of our team! They have worked their tails off all year and faced adversity. I believe the lessons learned through the early part of the season led to the tough and gritty performance put forward today. This is a solid step in getting to where we want to be."
Cadets' Corner with Tom Katsenes
"The theme for the tournament was really staying patient. The course was overall pretty gettable but definitely required smart decisions on some holes to avoid pushing too hard and making an easy bogey or double. Overall, I felt like we had a buzz all three days where something was going to happen, we were really close the first day and then it all came together the final round. I'm really proud of our rookie John Heckel for overcoming a slow start by making eagle on 9 and then chipping in for birdie on 18. We really kept our focus high and minimized compounding mistakes when we were out of position.
Â
"For me, Getting off to a fast start I think was more motivational for me but also let guys know birdies were out there to be made."
