CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Army West Point women's rugby came up short in the rematch of the 2019 NIRA Championship game, falling to the Harvard Crimson by a score of 22-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
On a rainy day in Cambridge, the Army West Point women's rugby team fought valiantly against the defending NIRA Champion Harvard Crimson, but fell after a 22-7 result.
Codi Butt scored the lone try for Army early in the contest after a great breakaway and run. The try gave Army a 7-5 advantage after 23 minutes played.
The Black Knights continued to put pressure on the Crimson defense, working the ball into its half of the field to create a few different scoring chances. The Cadets would come up short on their advances and would trail 10-7 at the 40-minute mark.
Army came out swinging in the second half, but Harvard was up to the challenge as it held off the Black Knights advances for the remainder of the contest.
Harvard would punch home two more tries before the end of regulation to make the score 22-7.
