Men's Tennis Drops Close One to Navy in Title Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point men's tennis team fell in a tight matchup with Navy, 4-2, in the Patriot League Championship match Sunday afternoon.
This marked the 25th time that the Cadets advanced to the title game. Since the postseason tournament began, Army has earned a spot in the title game all but two years. This was the 19th time that Army and Navy clashed for the league championship.
The Black Knight claimeds the doubles point after the pairings of A.J. Woodman and Thomas Lake and Samuel Eden and Diego Huttepain won their matches.
Navy won in No. 1 and No. 2 singles to take the 2-1 advantage. Lake had a 6-4, 6-2 win in in No. 3 singles to even the score at 2-2. Shortly after the Mids won on court four to push ahead 3-2. Both No. 5 and No. 6 singles went into the third set.
Freshman Jake Huarte claimed a 6-3 win in the first set, but Navy junior Jack McBride won the final to sets to give the Mids the win.
