Men's Rugby Opens Spring Season Victorious

RICHMOND, VA. - The Army West Point men's rugby team made its long anticipated spring debut Saturday, as they defeated Queen's University of Charlotte, 34-7 in 15s action.
The Black Knights got right to work in the second minute, as Robert Barrett crossed the try line for the first points of the season. Sean McNulty followed with the first of his two conversions to put Army up 7-0 early.
McNulty would then make it 10-0 after converting a penalty kick in the 27th minute.
Ben Kelly and Nolan Green each scored in the 37th and 46th minutes to extend the Black Knights lead to 20-0.
Senior captain Parker Ross would keep the momentum going, scoring a try in the 48th minute. McNulty followed with a conversion to make it 27-0 early in the second half.
After their lone try in the 68th minute by the Royals, Army would add one more score late in the game — a Steven Rohde try, followed by a Green conversion.
