Women's Basketball Drops Patriot League Opener To Lehigh

Bethlehem, PA —The Army West Point women's basketball team (2-9, 0-1 PL) fell to Lehigh (5-7, 1-0 PL) in the Patriot League Conference play opener on Friday afternoon.
How It Happened
Army and Lehigh traded baskets back and forth in the first quarter playing to an 12-12 tie. Kamryn Hall got off to a fast start scoring four points and securing five rebounds by the 3:32 mark in the first quarter.
Sophomore Trinity Hardy came off the bench to make her season debut for Army. In seven games last season as a freshman, she averaged 13.4 points per game. At the end of one quarter, Army trailed 19-15. Hall finished with seven rebounds in the opening frame.
In the second, Lehigh's Lily Fandre drilled a three to extend the lead 28-18. Frannie Hottinger scored 16 in the first half, best among all scorers. Lehigh outscored Army 33-16 in the second quarter to go into the break with a 52-31 lead as they shot 5-9 from three-point distance.
Kamryn Hall logged seven points and eight rebounds in the first half. Army shot only 2-10 from three-point in the first half, both makes by Hope Brown. Brown led Army scorers with eight points in the opening half.
In the third quarter, the Black Knights continued to fight outscoring Lehigh 13-7 through the first five minutes to cut the lead down to 15, 59-44. Lauren Lithgow connected on a three-ball during the run.
Army played better in the third finishing the period to outscore Lehigh, 20-14 in the quarter.
Early in the fourth, Lehigh's Mackenzie Kramer hit on a four-point play after drilling a three pointer in which she was fouled by Army's Kam Hall. Hall eventually fouled out in the quarter, finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds, her first double-double this season.
Brown finished with a season best 14 points. Hardy scored five points in her season debut.
Lehigh had four players in double figures, Hottinger (22), Kramer (18), Kaylee Van Eps (13) and Jamie Behar (11).

The Black Knights return home to Christl Arena to face Lafayette College on Monday, January 2 at 2 p.m.
