Women's Basketball Falls on Road To Colgate

Hamilton, NY —The Army West Point women's basketball team (3-11, 1-3 PL) fell to the Colgate Raiders (9-6, 3-1 PL) by a score of 65-52 on Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
Head Coach Missy Traversi shook up the starting lineup on Sunday, seeing Trinity Hardy make her first start of season alongside Natalie Rhine, Charlotte Richman, Sam McNaughton and Kam Hall.
McNaughton got Army on the board first with a jumper within the first minute of play. Hardy showcased her speed, following with a nice driving layup to her right side. Vasana Kearney knocked down a three-pointer, tying the game, 9-9 early on.
Freshman Charlotte Richman hit three-pointer as well, after missing the last two games. At the end of the opening period, Army trailed, 22-15. Senior Sabria Hunter got herself in foul trouble with two quick fouls in first quarter.
Trailing by nine in the second, 24-15 Army went on quick 6-0 run to get within three points at 24-21.
However, Army only would score two more points in the quarter as Colgate extended its lead to 36-23 by halftime. McNaughton led Army scorers with six points in the first half. Hardy did a little bit of everything logging four points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Army played better in the second half seeing three players reach double figures in the game. Kam Hall led the way with 11 points and Sabria Hunter and McNaughton had 10 apiece. Hunter logged a double-double also securing 12 rebounds.
In the fourth quarter, the Black Knights hung with the Raiders seeing the deficit shrink to 10 with 1:56 to play after a Kam Hall made free throw. However, Army did not have enough of a run to shorten the deficit any further.
Prior to today Army had won its last five vs. Colgate.
