February 23, 2023 | Men's Tennis
WASHINGTON, DC – Army West Point men's tennis (7-5, 1-0 Patriot League) defeated Marquette (0-8, 0-1 Big East) before falling to Georgetown (6-3, 1-0 Big East).
Army traveled to the nation's capital for a pair of Big East matchups in its first road trip of the spring season.
Marquette got off on the right foot, claiming the doubles point to ahead 1-0. With work to do in singles, Daniel Zhou secured the first singles win of the match on court six with a (6-2, 6-3) victory. Ten minutes later, Jake Huarte gave the Black Knights the lead after a (6-4, 6-3) win.
To secure the victory, Army's A.J. Woodman and Thomas Lake took care of business to make it a 4-2 final. Woodman was able to take down the Golden Eagles Tin Krstulovic (7-5, 6-4) on court one, before Thomas Lake logged a (6-7, 6-2, 6-2) win in the lone three-set triumph for Army.
Returning on Sunday for a true road matchup with the Hoyas, Georgetown was able to shut out the Black Knights with a 7-0 victory as Army eventually split the weekend.
