Black Knights Fall to Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Army West Point wresting team fell to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 26-9 Saturday afternoon. Army's Ethan Berginc, Dalton Harkins, and Ben Pasiuk each earned points for the Black Knights.
How it Happened
The Black Knights fought throughout the afternoon in their EIWA Conference dual against the Mountain Hawks. For their sixth EIWA Conference dual this season, Army's Ethan Berginc, Dalton Harkins, and Ben Pasiuk each put points on the board.
Army started competition off with the 184-weight class. Senior Sahm Abdulrazzaq competed against Lehigh's # 19 (in the country) Tate Samuelson. Abdulrazzaq fell to Samuelson by an 8-0 major decision. In the 197 class, Daniel Lawrence started in his first collegiate dual against #5 Michael Beard. Lawrence was bested by Beard by a tech fall (19-4). Kade Carlson started in the 285-weight class competing against Nathan Taylor. Carlson was bested by Taylor 17-5 major decision.
Freshman Ethan Berginc went up against Lehigh's Carter Bailey. After a scoreless first period, Berginc scored first in the second period with an escape. With 1:19 left in the third period, Bailey tied everything up with an escape making it a 1-1 match. Entering overtime, Berginc defeated Bailey with a takedown winning by a 3-1 decision.

In the 133-weight class, freshman Ryan Franco faced #5 Connor McGonagle. McGonagle defeated Franco by major decision (8-0). In his second collegiate dual match, freshman Eddie Hummel competed against Lehigh's #19 Malyke Hines in the 141-class. With two minutes left in the first period, Eddie Hummel earned an escape making it a 2-1 bout. With a 7-1 deficit, Hummel earned two points with a takedown. Hines bested Franco by a decision (10-3).
Army's Trae McDaniel started in the 149-class competing against Max Brignola. With 28 seconds left in the first period, McDaniel put Army on the board first with a takedown. In the second period, Brignola got on the board with an escape making it a 2-1 match. With 35 seconds left in the second period, Brignola took a 2-1 lead after earning two points from a takedown. Trae McDaniel forced overtime after earning an escape with 1:20 left in the third period. Brignola defeated McDaniel by a 5-3 sudden victory.
In the 157-class, Nate Lukez competed against #4 Josh Humphreys. The Mountain Hawks got on the board first after Humphreys earned a takedown. In the second period Lukez made it a 2-1 match after earning an escape. Lukez made it a 5-3 match after a takedown with a minute left in the third period. Lukez fell to Humphreys by a 6-3 decision.
Sophomore Dalton Harkins went up against Luca Frinzi. Harkins and Frinzi were scoreless in the first period when Frinzi got on the board after an escape with 20 seconds left in the second period. Immediately in the third period, Harkins tied everything up with an escape making it a 1-1 match. With riding time, Harkins defeated Frinzi by a 2-1 decision.

#24 Ben Pasiuk wrapped the afternoon up for the Black Knights. Pasiuk competed against Lehigh's Jake Logan. Pasiuk got on the board first after taking down Logan in the first period. With 50 seconds left, Logan took a 3-2 lead with a takedown. Pasiuk responded immediately with an escape tying the match up 3-3. With 1:42 left in the second period, Pasiuk took a 4-3 lead with an escape. Logan tied the match up 4-4 with 1:42 left in the third period. Pasiuk took the lead with 1:12 minutes left with a takedown making it a 6-4 match. Ben Pasiuk defeated Logan by a 7-5 decision.
