Seven Men’s Rugby Athletes Earn Rugby East Honors

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Seven Army West Point men's rugby players received Rugby East end-of-season honors, including two First-Team selections, two Second-Team selections, and three Honorable Mentions.
Junior George Engels and sophomore Benji Kemp were named to the First Team.
Engels, a Westport, Conn. native, started in eight games at the lock position, scoring three tries. He was instrumental in the Black Knights' impressive 8-1 finish, anchoring the left side of the scrum.
Kemp, from Bethesda, Md., led the team in tries this season with nine, tying him for the seventh-most in program history. He appeared in every match, primarily starting at the center position.
Sophomore Howie Heller and senior Nate Gould earned spots on the Second Team.
Heller, an Atlanta, Ga. native, led the Black Knights in total points, contributing five tries, 15 conversions, and three penalty kicks.
Gould, a senior back, started and played in every match this season, establishing himself as one of the team's most consistent and dominant players. He also added a try to his season tally.
Andrew Bardak, Gabe Savage, and Joey Knight received Honorable Mention recognition for their contributions throughout the season.
The Black Knights concluded the season with an 8-1 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Rugby East play, securing second place in the North Conference standings. The team aims to build on this success in the upcoming spring season.
