Wrestling Drops Competitive Dual vs. No. 2 Iowa

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Army West Point Wrestling held a team score lead halfway through Friday night's dual match vs. the No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes but would fall 23-16 at CFFC Match Day: Uncivil War at Francis Howell High School.
The event—which saw Iowa wrestle Princeton earlier in the evening—saw Army race out to dual leads of 7-3 and 13-7 after three and five bouts, respectively.
Overall, the Black Knights won four of the 10 bouts, moving to 3-1 in dual matches in 2024-25.
Charles Farmer commenced Army's evening at 125 lbs with an 8-0 major decision win over Iowa's Joey Cruz. After Ethan Berginc took a defeat at 133 lbs to No. 6 Drake Ayala, Braden Basile saw his arm raised after an 11-6 win vs. Cullan Schriever.
Army's most impressive win Friday night came in the 157 lb match, where Dakota Morris came back from an 8-4 deficit to pin Kael Voinovich in the third period, and giving the Black Knights a six-point lead in the team score.
While Army couldn't force the final bout to be a singular decisive match in the dual, Lucas Stoddard did finish the night strong for the cadets, earning a third period escape and riding time point for a 2-0 win.
