Women's Rugby Begins 7s Season with AIC 7s Tournament Victory

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Army West Point women's rugby kicked of its spring 7s campaign with a tournament victory behind a 5-0 showing at the annual AIC 7s Tournament, hosting by American International College.
Army averaged over 31 points per game across its five contests while allowing just 9.2 points per game in a dominating effort throughout. Army swept its pool play contests beginning with a key 38-21 victory over LIU, before besting the hosts AIC in a low-scoring affair by a scoreline of 12-5. Army ended up shutting out New Haven in its final pool play bout, to the tune of a 51-0 triumph over the Chargers.
The Black Knights matched up with Northeastern in the semifinals, eventually pulling away with a 26-10 win. Army would see its first opponent of the day again in the championship game, holding LIU to just 10 points this time before securing an eventual 26-10 win for the trophy.
Plebe Yesenia Morales paced Army's attack on the day, totaling six tries for 30 points. Grace Macune compiled 27 points across the day, touching down for five tries while also knocking in a conversion. Emily Steen had a strong day as well, recording 24 points on four tries and two conversions while Alissa Eisenhart contributed nine conversions and a try for 23 total points.
