Women's Rugby Advances to Premier Cup Semifinals at Collegiate Rugby Championship 7s

WASHINGTON, DC - Army West Point women's rugby collected a pair of victories to advance to the premier cup semifinals at the Collegiate Rugby Championship 7s tournament held at the Maryland Soccerplex.
Opening the tournament with one of the early matches on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM, taking on Northeastern University. The Black Knights were able to secure a commanding 39-0 victory while seeing six different try scorers throughout the contest. Yesenia Morales paced Army with a pair of tries, while Alissa Eisenhart logged two conversions to go along with a try. Emily Steen, Katelyn Woenker, Emma Gamboa and Marissa Wollbrinck also got on the scoresheet with tries to open their ledgers in the tournament.
Returning against Notre Dame College, the Black Knights had another stout defensive effort while posting an eventual 31-5 victory. Steen continued to put points on the board with a pair of tries to lead the way, with Eisenhart adding six points through three conversions. Morales and Gamboa found the try zone once again, with Molly Murtagh also getting on the scoresheet with her first try of the tournament.
Army has advanced to the premier cup semifinals and will take on AIC tomorrow at 11:20 AM. The Championship match is slated for 5:30 PM with the third-place contest at 4:57 PM.
