DJ Wilson Promoted to Associate Head Men's Tennis Coach
August 02, 2024 | Men's Tennis
WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point men's tennis head coach Randy Rowley has announced the promotion of DJ Wilson to Associate Head Coach for the program ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Wilson has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach on Rowley's staff after he took the reins ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
"Coach Wilson has already made an impact on the program with recruiting and with the team members we have in the current team. He has faced a tough task trying to replace a program that has lost eight starters from the last two teams and six of those players were in the top three of each year's line up in singles and two from the doubles. We are fortunate to have him." - head coach Randy Rowley
Wilson saw success in his first season with the program in 2022-23, as Army boasted a 20-13 record overall including a 6-1 mark in the Patriot League which secured the No. 2 seed in the postseason. Led by All-Patriot League first team honorees AJ Woodman and Thomas Lake, Army went on to play postseason tennis at the inaugural Universal Tennis NIT Championship in Atlanta.
In his second with the Black Knights, Army extended its streak to 30 straight seasons of reaching the Patriot League Tournament semifinals following a quarterfinal victory over Lehigh while Jake Huarte earned All-Patriot Leauge First Team honors in the process.
Wilson came to West Point after successful stints at both Stony Brook and Washington College, working with the Seawolves' women's program for seven seasons after two years with both the men and women at Washington College in Maryland. He originally earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and his MBA from Southwestern College in Kansas as a student-athlete in the tennis program.
