Women’s Rugby Dominates Davenport on Senior Night

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's rugby team was in complete control for all 80 minutes on Saturday night as it shutout Davenport, 69-0, at the Anderson Rugby Complex on Senior Night.

Army (5-2) celebrated 10 seniors prior to the game and the Black Knights put on a show for all the family and friends in attendance. Senior Alyssa Davis opened the scoring 2:52 into the game and Gabrielle Woenker followed six minutes later to give Army a 10-0 lead.

Also adding tries in the first half were Yesenia Morales and Emily Steen. Morales had three tries in the opening half. Davis closed the half with her second try of the game to give Army a 43-0 lead going into the locker room for the break.

Senior Grace Macune opened the second half with a try of her own and after successful conversion by Alissa Eisenhart, the Army lead was 50-0. Zoe Weimer added her first try of the season in the 52^nd minute to extend the lead to 60-0.

For the first time this season, someone other than Eisenhart attempted a conversion for the Black Knights, as Emily Vizcarra recorded a successful conversion following Weimer's try.

The final Army score of the night came on a try by Woenker, with Molly Kennedy recording the conversion.

The Black Knights take a one-week hiatus from NIRA play as it travels to Philadelphia this coming Saturday to take on LaSalle before welcoming Navy on Oct. 25 to close out the regular season.
