Swimming & Diving Completes Weekend at Georgia Tech Dual Meet Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. – Army West Point swimming & diving headed south to Georgia to compete in Georgia Tech's inaugural Dual Meet Tournament at the McAuley Aquatic Center over the weekend. Army faced off with Florida State, Geogia Tech, and George Washington for their three duals, falling 231-547, 331-455, and 388-398 respectively to finish eighth overall at the tournament.
Wave One: Army 231, Florida State 547
The Black Knights first faced off with the Seminoles Friday morning. Between Army's men's and women's team, the Black Knights collected 24 top-three finishes including four first place finishes.
Johnny Crush, Angie McKane, Kohen Rankin, and Molly Webber earned wins for Army in their respective individual events. Crush claimed his first-place finish in the men's 200 back with a 1:42.64. McKane followed with a 52.10 in the women's 100 fly to win the race, set a new program record, and clear the NCAA standard for the event.
Kohen Rankin earned first place in the men's 100 breast with a time of 52.99 before Molly Webber touched the wall first in the women's 200 free with a time of 1:46.79.
Wave Two: Army 331, Georgia Tech 455
Army put on a strong showing against tournament host Georgia Tech with 23 top-three finishes and nine first-place finishes in their second dual of the weekend. The men's 200 free relay team of Johnny Crush, Kohen Rankin, Ben Vorthmann, and Thomas Hadji kicked things off with a first-place finish from a time of 1:18.27.
Crush earned an individual first place finish in the men's 100 back with a 47.79 before Syndey Braeger notched the first first-place finish of the dual for the women with a 1:59.07 in the women's 200 fly. Catriona Gilmore joined Braeger with a first-place finish in the women's 200 breast (2:13.48) a few short minutes later.
Plebe Hadley Futch earned first place on the women's three-meter board with a final score of 142.65. Molly Webber then flexed her dominance in the women's 500 free with a first-place finish on a 4:51.78 to finish just over six seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
Joey Kling claimed a first-place finish against Georgia Tech with a time of 1:47.50 in the men's 200 IM before the quartet of Zac Leith, Kohen Rankin, Daniel Verdolaga, and Thomas Hadji secured first place in the men's 400 medley relay (3:11.56) to round out Army's second dual of the weekend.
Wave Three: Army 388, George Washington 398
The Black Knights concluded their weekend with a tightly contested dual against George Washington that came down to a ten-point differential between the two.
Army tallied 30 top-three finishes against George Washington with 12 wins against the Revolutionaries. The Black Knights claimed wins in both the women's and men's 400 free relays with a 3:22.79 from Grace Wagner, Angie McKane, Kira MacMullan, and Molly Webber and a 2:57.74 from Ramon Jiang, Thomas Hadji, Joey Kling, and Ben Vorthmann.
Army won both the women's and men's 100 back iterations as well with strong showings from Jenna Hart (55.47) and Johnny Crush (46.05). Sydney Braeger earned first place in the women's 200 fly (2:00.15) as well.
Catriona Gilmore and Kalvin Hahn swept the first-place finishes in the 200 breast for Army as well with times of 2:16.01 and 1:57.65 respectively. The 50 free first place finishes went to Arm as well as Angie McKane clocked a 23.02 and Ben Vorthmann posted a 20.20 and Kohen Rankin claimed first place in the men's 200 IM on a 1:50.11 to round out the individual events.
The Black Knights swept the 200 medley relay first place finishes with a 1:42.10 from McKane, Gilmore, Braeger, and Molly Webber and a 1:26.99 from Crush, Rankin, Verdolaga, and Hadji.
