Volleyball Falls in Regular Season Finale at Bucknell
November 15, 2025 | Volleyball
LEWISBURG, Pa. — Army West Point volleyball (17-8, 11-5) fell short in its final game of this 2025 regular season, with the Bucknell University Bison (12-13, 9-7) sweeping the Black Knights, 3-0.
With the loss, the Black Knights split the season series with the Bison, 1-1, with both teams sweeping each other on each respective team's home courts. Army earned its 3-0 win over Bucknell on October 10 inside Gillis Field House.
Bucknell won each set substantially, winning 25-10, 25-11 and 25-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Army opened the match with steady early touches, including a strong kill from Corrine Blackburn off a set from Juliette Myrick and a well-placed service ace by Naomi Chinchar that briefly narrowed the gap.
Lynch contributed a transition kill to keep Army in reach during the opening rallies.
But Bucknell's offense heated up quickly, using several kills from Kostic and Rodriguez and pressure from the service line to extend their lead.
Despite late kills from Harvey and Deapen, Army struggled to overcome Bucknell's blocking presence and fell 25–10.
Army again came out competitive in set two, with early kills from Harvey, Deapen, and Murakami helping maintain a tight opening stretch.
Myrick connected for a kill off a quick set, and Lynch delivered a hard cross-court swing to break up a Bucknell run.
Army also picked up key defensive touches, including a strong block touch from Lynch and Deapen that turned into a transition kill.
However, Bucknell countered with another extended run featuring kills from Shaffer and Tucker, combined with several Army attacks being stuffed at the net.
Even with late scoring from Murakami, Bucknell's consistency carried them to a 25–11 finish.
Army's best push came in the third set. Lynch powered the offense early with multiple kills, including a clean out-of-system swing set up by Chinchar.
Blackburn added back-to-back kills—one in transition and another off a perfect Myrick assist—to highlight a strong mid-set surge. Deapen chipped in with a sharp-angle kill and later teamed with Lynch for a well-timed block that cut the deficit to 11–16.
Despite this improved rhythm, Bucknell responded with a late run, using kills from Shaffer, Tucker, and Rodriguez to close out the set 25–16 and secure the sweep.
