November 28, 2025 | Women's Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS – Army West Point's Charlotte Richman continues to bring in the accolades after a remarkable cross country season, as she was named the Northeast Region Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Richman, a native of Portland, Ore., is the first Army West Point athlete to receive an athlete of the year honor by the USTFCCCA. This comes after one of the most incredible seasons in program history that saw her win three different races and become the first women's runner in program history to compete at the NCAA Championships.
The senior runner took home first place at the NCAA Northeast Region, won the Patriot League Individual Championship and won the Army-Navy Star Meet. Her times at all the events were blistering paces, which included the program's fastest 6K time (19:52.8) at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
"I am thrilled for Charlotte. Over six weeks this fall, she was at the top of her game – truly unbeatable," Director of Cross Country Mike Smith said. "She captured three consecutive championship titles, which included the Army-Navy Star Meet, the Patriot League Championship and the NCAA Northeast Regional. Each of those meets presented unique challenges, and Charlotte rose to the occasion every time. This is an extraordinary accomplishment for Charlotte, a defining milestone for our program, and the culmination of what can only be considered the best season in the history of our women's program."
In addition to this accolade, Richman was also named the Patriot League Runner of the Year, Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year and First-Team All-Patriot League.
Richman and the Army West Point track and field program kicks off its 2025-26 indoor season next Friday and Saturday with the Crowell Invite at Gillis Field House.
