Women’s Basketball to Participate in WNIT, Set to Play Bryant in Round 1

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team (24-7) has accepted an invitation to participate in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), following a runner-up finish in the Patriot League Tournament.
On Monday afternoon, the bracket was revealed featuring 48 teams in the field for the 27th annual Postseason WNIT, powered by Triple Crown Sports.

Army has a date set with the Bryant Bulldogs (17-14, 9-7), from the America East conference on Thursday, March 20 in Smithfield, Rhode Island with tip scheduled for 5 pm.
Army last played Bryant on 12/8/2021 in Rhode Island, a 74-50 Black Knights win.
Army fell in the Patriot League Championship game this past Sunday to Lehigh. Army led by two points at halftime, 32-30, but Lehigh came out in the second half to shoot 70.0% (14-20) to secure the title.
Army has secured its most wins (24) in a season since 2013-14, tied for the third most wins in a season in program history, and did not lose back-to-back games once all season. Army's .800%-win percentage is tied for the second-best in a season in program annuals as well.
22 teams in the WNIT field won 20 or more games this season. Army is joined by Patriot League conference foes, Navy and Colgate who are also in the field as well as service academy rival Air Force.
Bryant fell in the semifinals of the America East tournament to Vermont last week. The Bulldogs defeated Binghamton in the quarterfinals to earn their first playoff victory as a member of the America East. Bryant will be making their second postseason tournament appearance in program history. Bryant appeared in the WBI in the 2013-14 season, falling to Fairfield in double OT.
The winner of Army/Bryant would take on Rutgers (11-19, Big Ten) with the date and time of that contest to be announced later.
Army has twice appeared in the WNIT in 2013 and 2015 and fell in the opening round both times.
