Jackson Armistead Earns Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, PA - Army West Point men's tennis freshman Jackson Armistead was selected as the Patriot League men's tennis Player of the Week, announced today by the conference.
Armistead helped lead the Black Knights to a 3-0 mark in conference play this past weekend as Army defeated Loyola Maryland, Lafayette and Holy Cross by a 4-0 scoreline in each match.
A native of Boca Raton, Florida, Armistead went 2-0 in his singles matches at flight one while also collecting a doubles win on the weekend. On Saturday against Loyola, he paired up with Vishnu Bodavula for a 6-3 doubles victory to help Army secure the doubles point. He followed it up with a (6-1, 6-1) straight set victory at flight one as Army recorded a sweep over the Greyhounds. Returning against Holy Cross on Sunday, Armistead remained in good form as he defeated his opponent on court one by a (6-4, 6-1) result.
Armistead and the Black Knights have now won six straight matches and stand with a 9-4 overall record with a 3-1 mark in Patriot League play. Armistead has played a key role in the team's success this season with a 9-2 mark in singles while serving as Army's flight one competitor throughout the majority of the campaign. The weekly award win marks the first of his career and the first of the season for Army.
The Black Knights will return on Tuesday, April 1st at Marist with the match slated for 4 p.m.
