Fournier, Coletti Tapped for Patriot League Weekly Awards
April 14, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No 4. Army West Point men's lacrosse (10-1, 5-1 Patriot League) seniors Christian Fournier and Will Coletti earned the nod from the league office for two of the awards up for grabs after Army's 12-11 overtime win at RV Navy (7-5, 3-3 Patriot League) on Saturday. Fournier earned Defensive Player of the Week titles while Coletti was picked as the Faceoff Specialist of the Week.
Fournier was a threat in the midfield for Army, picking up a tied-for-game-and-team-second six ground balls while also logging a tied-for-game-high four caused turnovers. A strong opponent once he had the ball, Fournier committed no turnovers of his own.
With his assistance, the Black Knights totaled 12 caused turnovers and 39 ground balls to Navy's seven caused turnovers and 29 ground balls. With Fournier's presence serving as a deterrent in the midfield, Army held the Midshipmen to just 28 total shots in the contest, only 16 of which found their way on target compared to Army's 48 total shots and 25 shots on goal.
Coletti set the tone for Army from the faceoff stripe, going 17-for-23 from the x to help Army dominate the faceoffs 18-for-26 overall. Coletti was a threat when the ball was down, picking up a game-high nine ground balls throughout the contest and logging two shots of his own to help the Black Knights to their tenth win of the season.
