Women’s Tennis Falls to BU in Patriot League Championship

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Army West Point Women's Tennis fought to the end.

In a rematch of the teams' regular season finale last week, the Black Knights were pushed to the final two singles courts, ultimately falling 4-2 at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse.

The clinching match for BU came on singles court No. 5. Emma Sy came back from a first set loss to force a third set tiebreaker, but took a 7-4 loss in the tiebreak. A win in the decisive third set would have set up a showdown on court No. 6, with Ylan Duong locked in a 2-2 third set battle when the team match was clinched.

Unlike in Army's regular season win at BU April 19, the Black Knights fell in the doubles point, with losses on court No. 1 and 3.

Despite early defeats in singles play on courts No. 2 and 3, the Black Knights clawed their way back into the match with wins from Cooper Jackson and Vennmukiil Mathivanan. Jackson won a tiebreaker to claim a straight sets win on court No. 1, before Mathivanan recovered from a second set loss to win the third set 6-4 on court No. 4.

Army finishes the season 24-6, having finished 8-0 in conference play during the regular season, with a 4-1 home win over Navy April 5 in the Star Series presented by USAA, the program's first star win since 2022.
