Track and Field Concludes West Point Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army track and field program wrapped up its second indoor meet of the winter, hosting the West Point Invitational on Saturday at the Gillis Field House.
The one-day meet included 35 events and got underway with the women's weight throw at 10 a.m. and concluded with the men's 4x400m relay in the evening. The West Point Invitational was the second of three home meets scheduled for the indoor season.
Field Events
Senior Kiana Emerson kicked this off with a strong showing in the women's weight throw, taking home first place in the event with a throw of 17.03m. Emilia Labruyere finished fourth with a strong distance of 16.49m.
Army dominated women's shot put, taking eight of the top 10 spots, including a sweep of the top five spots. Jordan Hect finished first by a wide margin, hitting a distance of 15.58m. Lydia Oldenkamp (13.63m), Sara Sahadi (13.20m), Carly Borgelt (13.11m) and Cat Vota (12.95m) rounded out the top five.
On the men's side, Robby Manse finished first in the weight throw with a mark of 20.20m, while Calvin Bowens (16.96m) finished in the third podium spot. Aidan Simao (16.41m) and Jacob Bowersock (16.36m) finished fourth and fifth, respectfully. In the shot put, Matthew Palchak won the event at 16.99m, while Manse was the runner-up at 16.88m.
Erin Allert was just outside a podium spot in the women's long jump, finishing fourth at 5.38m. Kwame Amoo-Otoo was third on the men's side at 6.59m.
In the pole vault, Elce Walsh finished second in the women's event with a mark of 3.50, while Grant Hymas (4.60) finished third for the men.
Track Events
Chloe Esponda had the first track podium placement of the day, finishing second in the women's mile with a time of 5:03.25. In the men's mile, Harrison Lavery was second at 4:21.42.
Army took the top four spots in the women's 400m, with Cherokee Chambers (57.74), Sabrina Sardar (57.88), Lauren Gallagher (58.23) and Braelon Holmes (1:01.76) all having strong performances. Nathaniel Nelson (50.64) won the men's 400m, while Vincent Acinapura (50.83) finished third.
Jordan Taylor was third in the men's 500m with a time of 1:07.56.
In the men's 800m, Jack Musgrave took home first with a time of 1:54.47. Jack Kemling was just outside a podium spot, finishing fourth at 1:57.04.
Chadon Foreman won the women's 300m with a blistering time of 41.79, while Saige Acosta finished second at 42.32. Tekoyia Cheedy (43.10) and Olivia Reed (43.21) added fourth and fifth place finishes. On the men's side, Joshua Duncan (36.15) and Even Newcomer (36.31) recorded third and fourth place results.
Christian Backmann finished first in the men's 3000m with a showing of 8:27.74, while Andrew Lee finished third at 8:43.09.
In the final events of the day, the women's 4x400m relay team of Sardar, Chambers, Gallagher and Holmes finished first with a time of 3:57.65. On the men's side, Taylor, Acinapura, Musgrave and John Afari-Akins finished second at 3:25.50.
