Army West Point Launches Program To Support Assistant Coaches Aspiring To Serve as Head Coaches

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Athletics launches its Future Head Coach Development Program to provide valuable lessons to assistant coaches who aspire to serve as head coaches during their careers.
The program supports the tradition of the United States Military Academy as the world's preeminent leader development institution. The program will focus on personal and professional growth, enhancing emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of the various supporting programs athletic departments provide their coaches and teams.
"The United States Military Academy is committed to developing leaders of character - not only among cadets, but also within our talented coaches and staff," said Tom Theodorakis, Army West Point Director of Athletics. "West Point has always been an environment of growth and opportunity, and this program provides a strategic approach to attracting, developing, and retaining top-tier talent. I appreciate the work of Tricia Brandenburg, Marquise Stancil, and Scott Robson in launching this initiative, which supports our Fruits of Victory strategic plan by investing in the success of our coaching staffs."
Each session of the program will provide components of serving as a Head Coach to include:
The Future Head Coach Development Program has been designed to enhance the assistant coach's ability to serve as an effective coach and leader of cadet-athletes on and off the playing surface. Areas of growth will include effective community; building and sustaining a culture of excellence focused on the cadet-athletes; navigating and winning the head coaching interview process; operating as the leader of a sport program, including staff, resources and program management, and personal and professional well-being while managing the demands of the coaching profession.
Each cohort of the program will consist of a small group of assistant coaches with new cohorts starting each semester.

- External Relations: Revenue Generation, Fan Engagement & Communications
- Internal Operations: Event & Game Management, Capital Projects, Academy Relations, Admissions

- Mock Interviews & Feedback Session
- Q&A with AD & Graduation Dinner
