Football Hires Christian Long as Defensive Quality Control Coach

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point head football coach Jeff Monken has announced the hiring of Christian Long as Defensive Quality Control Coach.
Long comes to West Point after spending time at Samford University. Last season, he served as a defensive analyst, working closely with the safeties. In 2024, he worked as a special teams analyst while also assisting with the cornerbacks. During his time at Samford, he also contributed to the offensive scout team, depth chart management, and practice operations.
Long joined Samford's football program in the fall of 2023. He played quarterback and wide receiver in the spring of 2024 before transitioning into a student assistant role.
"Having the opportunity to coach at a well-respected institution like Army is a huge blessing," said Long. "I'm excited to be a part of Coach Monken's staff, which is full of outstanding coaches and support staff. I believe there is something special ahead for our football team, and I'm grateful to be part of it. Go Army! Beat Navy!"
Long received his bachelor's degree from Samford in 2025.
