Women’s Tennis Finishes Regular Season With 1-1 Senior Weekend
April 12, 2026 | Women's Tennis
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point women's tennis recognized four outstanding senior cadet-athletes before Sunday's match against the Boston University Terriers. After Isabella Brilliant, Ylan Duong, Vennmukiil Mathivanan and Emma Sy were each honored, the teams dove into a competitive dual, with Army clawing back from an early deficit, but the Black Knights would ultimately finish the weekend 1-1 after dropping a 4-2 decision to the Terriers.
Army finishes the 2025-26 regular season 21-6, and 6-2 in Patriot League action. The Black Knights await the conference championship bracket ahead of next week's tournament.
The Black Knights previously defeated Lehigh on Friday, 4-0. That dual saw Army ride a pair of dominant doubles wins on its way to victories on singles courts four, five and six by Emily Ruckno, Duong and Stacey Samonte, respectively.
Army look to take that momentum into Sunday's match against BU, but a doubles tiebreaker loss on court three would give the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Army did battle back from a 3-0 hole to get within 3-2. Ruckno won her second singles match of the weekend on Sunday, a three-set triumph over Madison Liu on court four. Then on court six, Samonte battled back from a first set loss to win in three sets. However, BU would clinch the dual with a three-set win on court three.
