BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an incredibly successful Saturday at the Army-Navy Star Meet, Simone Tillman was named the Patriot League Track and Field Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Tillman played an instrumental role in helping the women's team win the outdoor Star for the first time in 12 years, as the Black Knights downed Navy 108-95.
The freshman from Hood River, Ore., won the 200m and was part of the winning relay teams in the 4x100m and 4x400m. She also placed second in the 400m.
In the 200m, she posted a time of 24.05 to win the event. That time is the third fastest in the Patriot League this season and first all-time at Army in all-conditions (+3.6m/s wind). In the 400m, she posted an impressive time of 54.29, which is tied for first in the Patriot League this season.
In the relays, Tillman helped Army post a 46.45 in the 4x100m and a 3:47.02 in the 4x400m. Winning the two events was crucial to Army coming out on top in the overall meet.
This is the third time this year that Tillman has earned the Rookie of the Week honor and second time in as many weeks.
Jordan Hecht, Nathan Davis and Robby Manse received honorable mentions from the conference.
