Women’s Rugby Sevens Season Comes to a Close at CRAA National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The Army West Point women's rugby team closed out its spring sevens season at the CRAA National Championships, where it advanced all the way to the semifinal match.
Army had a perfect 3-0 start to the tournament on Saturday but came up just short in the semifinal match against Life University on Sunday afternoon.
Game 1: Army 19, Sacred Heart 14
The Black Knights opened pool play with a fierce battle against Sacred Heart, but scored late in the match to open the tournament with a crucial victory. In the win, Army got tries from Cecilia Ollis, Gabby Woenker and Chloe De Leon. Alissa Eisenhart also added a pair of conversions.
De Leon's score came at the final whistle and sealed the victory for the Black Knights.
Game 2: Army 27, Princeton 10
In the second game of pool play, Army was in complete control. De Leon and Yesenia Morales were dominant in every aspect. De Leon had three tries and a conversion to her name in the victory, while Morales also added a pair of scores.
With the win, Army secured the No. 2 seed after pool play, putting the Black Knights in prime position entering the sudden death portion of the tournament.
Game 3 (Quarterfinal): Army 21, Princeton 0
For the second consecutive match, Army squared off against Princeton, but this time with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
The Black Knights had its most dominant performance when it mattered the most. Just like the previous match, De Leon and Morales impressed. De Leon added a pair of tries, while Morales also tallied one. Eisenhart was a perfect 3-3 on conversions.
Through the opening day of play, De Leon had a team-high five tries to help Army secure its spot in the Sunday semifinal match.
Game 4 (Semifinal): Life 19, Army 5
The Black Knights fell behind 19-0 early and couldn't dig themselves out of the hole. Eisenhart record the only try for Army.
