Women’s Tennis Selected for UTR Sports NIT

Army will take on Northern Alabama in the quarterfinals on May 5.
ROME, Ga. – Army West Point women's tennis has been selected for the UTR Sports NIT Championships, set for May 5-7 in Rome, Ga.
Rome Tennis Center will host each round of the tournament.
The Black Knights are seeded fifth will face North Alabama in the quarterfinals, on May 5, not before 11:30 a.m.
The winner of the Kansas State vs. Northern Illinois match would await Army in the May 6 semifinals should it win its opening match, with that semifinal set for 9:00 a.m. The championship match is slated for May 7 at 9:00 a.m.
A live stream will be available for each round.
Army is one of eight women's tennis squads tabbed for the tournament. The Black Knights were selected by the NIT Championship tournament committee, with the UTR Sports College Team rankings being used as a baseline selection and seeding criterion.
Army takes a 22-7 record into the tournament, with a 6-2 mark in Patriot League regular season matches. The Black Knights earned a win over academy rival Air Force on February 14 and advanced to the Patriot League Semifinals this month.
Madison Smith, Emily Ruckno and Vennmukiil Mathivanan were each selected to the Patriot League All-Conference teams. Additionally, Ruckno and Olivia Mellynchuk were named Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year.
