Sullivan Claims Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week Title

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 15 Army West Point men's lacrosse senior defenseman John Sullivan earned the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week title on Monday as announced by the league office.
Sullivan provided a stalwart presence in Army's defensive zone at Bucknell on Saturday in the Black Knights' 14-8 victory over the Bison.
The Nashua, N.H. local recorded a game-high four caused turnovers in addition to picking up two ground balls in the contest.
With Sullivan's influence, Army earned 12 caused turnovers to Bucknell's six and tallied 38 ground balls to Bucknell's 30.
The Black Knights also combined to cause four failed clears for the Bison while Army's defense held off two extra-man opportunities for the home team.
Sullivan's presence in the Army defense helped the Black Knights hold the Bison to just two goals in the first half with one each in the first and second quarters.
Army's defense stands fourth in the nation and first in the Patriot League for man-down defense (.821) as well as tying for tenth in the nation in scoring defense on a league-leading clip of 8.82.
