Men's Basketball Reveals 2026-27 Nonconference Slate

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team and head coach Kevin Kuwik unveiled its nonconference schedule for the 2026-27 season on Thursday.
"First and foremost, we are looking forward to the balance of this schedule in ultimately preparing ourselves for Patriot League play," Kuwik said. "There are great tests for us on the road and at home, and most importantly, a good balance in the different styles of play that we will face along the way."
The 14-game slate features road matchups against two Power 4 opponents, Duke and Rutgers, while adding a neutral-site contest in San Antonio against Air Force, marking the first time the two service academies will face off since the 2021-22 season. Team 125 will play six total games at home and seven games on the road throughout the non-league portion of the season.
Kuwik enters his fourth consecutive season at the helm of the program and looks to improve upon Team 124's non-league achievements, which included wins over FDU, Manhattan and Binghamton.
Last year's squad highlighted its nonconference schedule with a 63-60 road win over UMBC of the America East, a team which would eventually become an automatic qualifier to the 2026 NCAA Tournament after winning its conference title.

Full Schedule Breakdown
The Black Knights will open the season on Nov. 2 against a familiar face, traveling to Duke after hosting the Blue Devils last season in a game that shattered Christl Arena's attendance record and drew a whopping 5,326 fans to the banks of the Hudson River.
The matchup will mark the third straight season the two teams have faced off and the fifth season in the past decade they have met.
The team will then see its first opportunity to play host, welcoming D-III Mount Saint Mary on Nov. 5 before heading back out onto the road to battle with New Haven for the first time in program history on Nov. 10.
The Black Knights will then compete twice in a row in front of home fans, hosting St. Thomas on Nov. 14 and Marist on Nov. 17 after meeting both of those squads on the road last season. The former will mark the first time the Tommies will ever play at Christl Arena.
After completing a Nov. 21 matchup at Binghamton, Army will stay on the road for the week, traveling to the Lone Star State during Thanksgiving Week.
The program will compete against rival Air Force, with that contest set for Nov. 24 at the Convocation Center on the campus of UTSA. The Black Knights will then stay in the area until Nov. 26 to play in a true road game against UTSA, marking third time Army will take on the Roadrunners in four seasons.
"Our trip to San Antonio over Thanksgiving week will allow us to resume a special rivalry with Air Force," Kuwik said. "It also gives us a great opportunity to engage the Fort Sam Houston military community located in San Antonio."
Next, Army will return home on Nov. 28 to host Rider, marking the first time the two teams will meet since the 1993-94 season. Then the program will have a chance to take down a perennial AEC contender for the second straight year when it welcomes UMBC on Dec. 2.
After returning home from a road contest at UAlbany on Dec. 5, the Black Knights will compete in their final home game of the 2026-27 non-conference slate when they welcome D-III York College on Dec. 7.
"In terms of our home slate, to have an NCAA Tournament team like UMBC," said Kwuik, "a perennially successful program like St. Thomas, plus all the other programs we are playing at home this season, all those will be great games for our fans to see."
Army will close out its non-league schedule with back-to-back road games before entering the flow of Patriot League play. On Dec. 11, the team will compete against Columbia for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
The team will then put a bow on the early portion of the season on Dec. 20 against a Power 4 opponent in Rutgers. It will be just the second meeting of all time between the two programs and the first since the 2013-14 season.
"We place great emphasis on providing our cadet athletes with a special experience here, and this schedule definitely does that as well," Kuwik said. "Opening up in Cameron Indoor Stadium as well as playing Rutgers out of the Big Ten will be tremendous opportunities for our young men. Playing Columbia in New York City on the eve of Army-Navy Football will once again allow our players and fans to feel the excitement of that special weekend. Team 125 cannot wait for November to get here."
