Cross Country's McCorvey, Cheney Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point cross country freshman Issaiah McCorvey and senior Mikayla Cheney have been recognized with Patriot League weekly honors following standout performances at the Jasper Fall Invitational on September 19.
McCorvey, a member of the men's team, was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week. The freshman opened his collegiate career with an individual victory at the Maine dual on September 4, then followed it up with a fourth-place finish at the Jasper Invite (25:00.12), helping the Black Knights to a 15-point sweep of the men's 8000 meters — taking the top five spots outright in a 12-team field.
Cheney, a senior on the women's team, earned Patriot League Runner of the Week after winning the women's 6000 meters at the Jasper Invite in 21:10.54. Her individual title paced Army to a 42-point team championship over a field that included Quinnipiac, Marist, Rider, and Temple.
The honors mark another strong showing for a Black Knights program that has posted a team win, a runner-up finish, and now two individual weekly awards across its first three meets of the fall season.
Army West Point returns to action on Friday, October 2, at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
