Blake Catlett

Army West Point football has announced the hiring of Blake Catlett as Special Teams Quality Control Coach.Â
Â
Catlett comes to West Point from Samford University, where he served as defensive ends/outside linebackers coach.Â
Â
At Samford, Catlett helped spearhead a defense that generated 57 tackles for loss and 20 sacks in 2025. He also was responsible for recruiting areas in Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Before Samford, Catlett spent three seasons at Middle Tennessee State University under longtime head coach Rick Stockstill. Catlett held the role of Defensive Quality Control Coach – Linebackers in 2021 and 2022, before serving as Defensive and Special Teams Quality Control Coach for the 2023 season.Â

While in Murfreesboro, Catlett was responsible for daily schedules/scripts for the organization, daily preparation of practice by creating meeting tapes and cut-ups, coordination of scout teams, opponent film breakdown and weekly opponent reports.

The Blue Raiders won the 2021 Bahamas Bowl and 2022 Hawaii Bowl with Catlett on staff, and the program also notched its signature win at No. 25 Miami in ‘22.

Catlett also served briefly as MTSU’s Director of Player Personal in the 2024 offseason before departing for Samford.

Before his time on staff at MTSU, Catlett served as Offensive Quality Control – Tight Ends / Running Backs at Austin Peay State University during the Spring 2021 FCS season, in which the Governors went 4-2.

Catlett graduated from MTSU with a degree in Marketing in December 2020, while also an offensive lineman with the football program. He is originally from Jackson, Tenn.
