- Title:
- Director of Scouting
Eddie Hernon rejoined the Army West Point Football staff in 2026 as the Director of Scouting. This marks his second stint with the Black Knights, having previously served as the program's Director of Player Personnel during the 2022 season.
In between his chapters at West Point, Hernon spent two seasons at UConn as the football program's General Manager. In his role, he maintained complete oversight of recruiting and player personnel strategy, managed the roster, and directed the allocation of the Huskies' 85 scholarships. He also supervised all recruiting boards and served as the program's primary contact for agent communications. His strategy helped guide UConn to the most wins in program history over two years and secured the Huskies' first bowl victory in 15 years.
Before his initial arrival at West Point, Hernon spent five seasons with the three-time Ivy League Champion Princeton Tigers, where he served as the Director of Player Personnel & Defensive/Special Teams Quality Control. Princeton achieved a stellar 40-10 overall record during his tenure, including an elite 27-3 mark over his final three seasons. A premier talent evaluator, Hernon helped the Tigers secure the top-ranked recruiting class in all of FCS Football in two separate seasons (2018, 2020) and a top-three class nationally in his other three campaigns.
On the field, Hernonās work with the defense and special teams units helped the Tigers' defense finish in the national top 10 during three separate seasons. Furthermore, his kickoff coverage unit led the nation in 2019, allowing a meager 190 return yards all year. He also served as Princeton's designated NFL liaison.
Hernon's extensive background in player personnel and football operations also includes a three-year stint as a Scouting Project Consultant for the Cleveland Browns (2015ā2017) and working as a Video Assistant at Rutgers (2010ā2013).
A native of the region, Hernon earned his bachelorās degree in journalism & media studies from Rutgers University in 2012. He later completed his masterās degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University in 2014.
