Chad Bagley was hired as the head golf coach in August of 2017.
Since being promoted to head coach, Bagley led the Black Knights to the 2019 Patriot League Championship and an NCAA appearance at the Austin Regional at UT Golf Club. After coming back in the final round to take the crown, Bagley was named the 2019 Patriot League Coach of the Year.
Most recently, Bagley led the Black Knights to the Commander-in-Chief's Cup in the Spring of 2023, finishing ahead of Navy and Air Force in the two-day tournament at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Bagley has also enjoyed Star victories over Navy in six of the last seven seasons after the Black Knights won in a playoff in the fall of 2023. Over the last two years, Bagley has tutored John Heckel Jr. to First and Second Team All-Patriot League honors as well.
In the fall of 2021, the Black Knights captured the Bucknell Invitational in the fall of 2021, thanks to three cadet-athletes finishing in the top 10 on the leaderboard. Bagley has also tutored two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Nick Turner, as well as the 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, John Heckel, Jr.
Bagley, who was a three-year letterwinner on the Army golf team and served as the interim Head Golf Coach in the fall of 2010, rejoined the coaching staff of the Black Knights last season as an assistant after serving as a team Officer Representative this past season on top of his football duties. He takes over after Brian Watts stepped down following the spring season.
Prior to joining the golf coaching staff in 2015, he was the Director of Football Operations at West Point. Bagley was in charge of the logistical operations for all aspects of the program.
Before returning to West Point in 2015, Bagley served as the G1 Chief of Plans, Exercises, and Operations in USARPAC at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, and has deployed in support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom (2008) and Operation Enduring Freedom (2013). In his previous tour at West Point, Bagley served as a tactical officer and regimental executive officer after completing his master's degree in counseling and leader development from Long Island University.
A 1995 graduate of West Point, Bagley was a four-year member of the Black Knights' golf team, earning three varsity letters during his tenure in the Black, Gold and Gray. He earned All-Patriot League honors as a junior and served as the Black Knights' team captain during his final campaign. The Black Knights won the Patriot League Championships all four seasons that Bagley was a member of the squad.
Bagley also served as interim golf coach in 2009-2010. He led the team to a 6-5 victory over Navy at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The team won the Mulekicker Fall Classic at the West Point Golf Course, was second at the Service Academy Tournament and placed fourth at the Leo Keenan Invitational.
Bagley and his wife, Susan, reside at West Point.
