Julia Anderson enters her fifth season with the Army West Point volleyball program after joining the staff in March 2022 under head coach Alma Kovaci Lee.
During Anderson’s tenure, Army continues to stay in the top of the Patriot League, reaching the Patriot League Championship match in both 2024 and 2025 after capturing a share of the Patriot League Regular Season Championship in 2022.
Anderson has played a key role in the development of multiple All-Patriot League student-athletes, particularly working with setters. Most notably, Juliette Myrick earned All-Patriot League honors in both 2024 and 2025 under Anderson’s guidance.
Anderson joined Army after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Columbia University, where she worked primarily with setters. During her time with the Lions, she helped guide Audrey Cheng into Columbia’s 2,000-assist club, as Cheng finished her career ranked third in program history in assists.
Prior to Columbia, Anderson spent two seasons at Fairfield University as an assistant coach. She helped develop setter Alexis Rich, who earned unanimous selection to the 2018 MAAC All-Rookie Team. Anderson also played an integral role in the development of Manuela Nicolini, who was named 2017 MAAC Setter of the Year and earned First Team All-MAAC honors. In Anderson’s first season, Fairfield captured the 2017 MAAC Championship.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Anderson coached with USA NY Volleyball Club from 2014-15 and again from 2017-present. During her tenure, she gained international coaching experience and served as head coach for the club’s participation in the 2018 and 2019 Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia.
Before entering the coaching profession, Anderson was a three-year letterwinner at the University of Delaware after beginning her collegiate career at Maryland. At Delaware, she totaled 495 digs, 74 kills, 71 blocks, and 46 aces while finishing seventh in program history with 2,406 career assists and eighth with 8.07 assists per set.
She graduated from Delaware in May 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in organizational and community leadership.
A native of Cornwall, New York, Anderson continues to specialize in setter development and offensive systems training.
