After serving as assistant volleyball coach at Army West Point for six seasons, Stafford Barzey was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2015, announced by head coach Alma Kovaci.
Since joining Kovaci's staff for the 2010 season, Barzey has helped maintained Army's success in the Patriot League.
Prior to his appointment as assistant coach, Barzey had already invested much of his time into West Point, having worked the Army volleyball summer camp sessions for the previous eight years. He spent the 2010-11 season as the head coach at City College of New York, a Division III program in Manhattan. In his one season, he mentored the Beavers to a 21-17 mark and a berth in the CUNYAC semifinals where they lost a five-set match to Baruch College.
While at CCNY, Barzey was responsible for directing all aspects of the program to include practice planning and implementation, physical conditioning, player skill development, academic progress, fund raising and recruiting.
Barzey also earned head coaching experience at the club level with the Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club out of Peekskill, N.Y., and the Jersey Girls Volleyball Club (D.I.G.S.) in New Milford, N.J.
A CAP Level I certified coach through the USA Volleyball coaching accreditation program, Barzey spent four seasons as an assistant coach at nearby Pace University where he concentrated on player development, film review and practice sessions. In 2004-05, he served as a consultant for the Hunter College men's volleyball program. Barzey has garnered Division I camp experience at Army, Navy and Rhode Island.
Barzey is the owner and co-founder of RD Associates, where he serves as a technology consultant.
